Interface, navigation and personalisation

Find your way around the application, change theme and manage several companies from one Axolot ID.

Application layout

The side navigation groups features by theme (Accounting, Third parties & projects and Settings). The dashboard gives you an overview as soon as you sign in.

On your first opening of the admin application in a tab (or after closing and reopening the tab), a short loading video is shown full screen while the interface prepares. The variant shown adapts to light or dark theme and mobile or desktop layout. It does not appear on the sign-in page and does not reappear on subsequent navigation in the same tab. Only a discreet indicator may show if an action takes more than one second.

Light / dark theme

You can switch between light and dark theme. The setting can also follow your system preference if you wish.

Accent colour

In Settings → Personalisation, choose an accent colour to adapt the interface to your identity.

Multiple companies

One Axolot ID can manage several companies. Each company has its own data, fully isolated. Your invoices, accounts, VAT and customers never mix. You switch companies from the selector at the top of the application.

The licence and optional modules are tied to a specific company. To move a licence or all accounting data from one company to another, contact support. This operation is performed by the platform team and is not available as self-service in the application.

Notifications

The bell at the top of the application groups your in-app notifications such as end of a bank sync, statement import or receipt extraction. A badge shows the number of unread notifications, and the list updates automatically.

These same notifications can also appear directly in your browser as system notifications when an application tab stays open in the background. Handy to be notified when processing is complete without watching the page.

  1. On first click in the application, your browser asks permission to show notifications, so accept it.
  2. Keep an application tab open (it can be in the background).
  3. As soon as a new notification arrives and the tab is not in the foreground, a system notification appears. Click it to return to the application.
Browser notifications only appear if an application tab is open and you have accepted permission. If you declined, re-enable notifications for the site in your browser settings. The bell remains always available in the application.

Web Push (app closed)

If you accepted notifications and installed the app (PWA), Axolot can also notify you when the window is fully closed, for example when a bank import or background sync completes.

  1. Install Axolot as an app (see Install the app) or keep the service worker active in Chrome/Edge.
  2. Accept notifications on your first click in the application.
  3. The push subscription is saved automatically, no extra setting is required.
On iPhone and iPad, Web Push only works if the app is installed on the Home Screen (iOS 16.4+). On Mac and PC, Chrome and Edge are the most reliable.

Install the application

On Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Android), you can install Axolot as an app (icon on the desktop or dock, window without the browser address bar). An invitation may appear at the bottom of the screen, and you can also use the browser menu (Install app or Install Axolot).

On iPhone, iPad, or Safari on macOS, open Axolot in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”.

The installed app stays connected to your online data, so an internet connection is required to work. There is no offline accounting mode.
If an interface change does not appear, try refreshing the page, as some settings are cached in the browser.
